PvE Incentive? PvE Rankings?
Howdy,
I was wondering what people thought about the idea of a PvE ranking system. The thought came to me while I was volunteering for a Ring of Fire mission and a Ne/Mo who was with us instantly bailed after capping an elite.
While I was frustrated with it, I thought to myself, "Well, besides the fact that he was supposed to be helping us with the mission, that necromancer had no other reason to stay here." Sure, I'd like to think people would consider the fact they've suddenly invalidated all the time people are investing to complete these missions--but, hey, people can be and are assholes on a regular basis, and this guy was no exception.
What if, though, there were extra incentive for people to complete missions -even- after they've finished them? Wouldn't that be something?
How about a ranking system, I thought, for guilds? Each mission would have a difficulty assigned to it, and points would be awarded per player to each guild based on a number of variables, such as player level compared to difficulty, number of times ran, last time ran, et cet..
I'm not really sure. I just think we need greater incentive for people to do PvE.

I wholeheartedly agree with this, I have wanted something like this for so long. It's rather difficult to think up a way it would work, I know XP-based ranking would get abused by, say, 55 Monks who have 5 Million XP yet still have no clue how to efficiently heal in a party. So PvE does indeed badly need some incentive, at least in this stage in the game where people begin to become bored with the PvE element in GW: Prophecies. But the release of Factions with its new content will in itself add incentive, that of exploring, completing the storyline, and putting the innocence and fun back in PvE. So we shall wait and see, but I do hope ArenaNet gives some thought on this topic.

It has to be done in a way though that it doesn't penalize low-level people for, say, being low-level, but still takes into count that certain low-level missions can be short.
Otherwise, high-levels would be more reluctant to head that way to help people.

Yes, I agree .
suggestion
MVP (most valuable player points)
some sort of system that allows players to reach MVP after succesfull completing a mission objective, aided by a system that shows collected xp from monsters during mission for each player and takes into account if the team did remarkably well (in terms of received, returned damage & completing time). Multiple deaths (even of fellow partymembers) would lowers chances of getting MVP points
if a player recieves 0 xp from monster kills he isnt eligable to be mvp, making , afks, high lvls in low lvl arenas & low levels in high lvl arenas non candidates. Leechers aspiring to become MVPs would then have to meet the lvl requirement range for the monsters and be in range when monsters die (which might be a feat in it self)
This might be considerable hard to h, but perhaps some data is available for such "traffic" analys/reports
